Avondale United was founded in Ballintemple, Cork in 1972 to provide an outlet for football enthusiasts in the Blackrock, Beaumont and Ballintemple areas of Cork. The club caters for playing members at both Schoolboy and Adult level. It maintains two separate playing pitches in Cork. The Senior, Junior and Youths teams play in the club's main complex which is on four and a half acres which the club owns at Carrigaline. This consists of a playing pitch, two floodlit training areas together with dressing room facilities. Our underage teams play at club headquarters in Beaumont Park on land owned by the Cork City Council under the control of the Beaumont Residents Association.
Avondale United FC has won honours in all grades of Cork football including schoolboys, youths, Junior, Senior and Over 35's level. The greatest honour achieved by the club came when it won the FAI Intermediate Cup on four separate occasions in 1978, 2006, 2007 and 2011.
Avondale United FC has a playing membership of approximately 300 people and we play our games in the Cork Schoolboys League, The Cork City & County Youths League and The Munster Senior League. The club is also affiliated to The Munster Football Association, The Schoolboys Football Association of Ireland and The Football Association of Ireland
